WeAreOpen was founded in Budapest in 2013 by the visionary leaders of Prezi, Google and espell. The founders, Péter Árvai, Richárd Schuszter and Miklós Bán had a clear idea to promote and help organisations understand and experience the benefits of openness in the workplace. By 2023, more than 1100 companies joined WeAreOpen’s manifesto, which makes us the largest DEI organisation in the country, with a service palette that covers the entire range of DEI actions from audit to policy making, capability building and regular reviews.
Our mission is to generate social impact by providing meaningful DEI services to companies, small and big alike. We encourage Hungary-based employers to join us to become part of a real-life community of openness-championing organisations and to better understand how to take actions towards greater diversity and inclusion in the Hungarian workplace.
Why Choose WeAreOpen?
WeAreOpen is Hungary’s largest diversity and inclusion organisation, with more than 1100 companies that joined our manifesto
During the past 10 years we delivered DEI-related services to more than 100 companies
We create benchmark studies and reports year after year which generate a unique know-how in our organisation
We have an extensive understanding of and insight into DEI-related company best practices in and outside of Hungary that we readily share with our members
We provide you not just services for companies but also membership in an executive community of like-minded leaders ready to learn from each other. This will bring C-level executives plenty of new connections and inspiration.
Our services are always tailor-made for your organisation. No two workshops, processes are the same, because we know from experience that every company is different and boxed solutions do not work
We bring you a holistic view about diversity and inclusion. Primarily, we are not selling services, but a mindset.
We address DEI both directly and indirectly. We like to explain to you why it is worth being open, but we also like to bring you artistic events that will indirectly inspire you to commit to diversity and inclusion.
We want to inspire our members with international best practices. We put a lot of effort into organising events that bring new perspectives.
Why Should You Invest in Diversity and Inclusion?
Being open is not only the right thing to do but it also makes business sense.
"We are open. We treat everyone with the same respect. Regardless of their sex, age, sexual orientation, nationality, ethnicity, politics, physical abilities, or any other distinguishing factor. The actions and accomplishments of each individual are what matter to us. We are open because it pays to be open; as a person, and as a business. Because open organisations are more successful and the people who work there are happier. Our mission is to demonstrate the value of openness to companies, employers, and employees alike. Join us!”

Prezi coded diversity in from the beginning, as being inclusive is not just the morally right thing to do but it has a lot of benefits. You think more creatively, you see things from varied perspectives. Companies with higher levels of diversity achieve better financial returns than the industry median.
As the maker of products used by billions of people every day, we see DEI as a core responsibility. To deliver, we're focused on the areas where we can have the greatest impact: building belonging at work, in our products, and in society. A world where everyone belongs is one we can only build together. We are grateful for what we've learned from our partners, and hopeful that in sharing it, we can help others accelerate their progress as well.
WeAreOpen was a game changer for us to fully and publicly embrace D&I because it opened a door for us to get better. To set standards and to invite our team to hold the management and their colleagues responsible to stay true to our values. Sometimes it’s hard because some issues are complex and just hard to deal with overall. But the very conversations, the debate, thinking together makes it worth the while.
Diversity, equity and inclusion are embedded in everything that we do. The diversity of our colleagues is a cornerstone of our corporate culture. At Citi, we are building a place where the best talent wants to work and where people can reach their full potential.
